ROMAN
FEMALE EMPRESS COIN PENDANT
IN
14KY GOLD WITH STERLING
SILVER DECORATION
5TH
CENTURY A.D.
This has got to be one of my most interesting coins
because it features one of the few WOMEN who served as emperors of the
Roman empire. This incredibly detailed choice example is even in
better shape than the photo shows. Set in a handmade 14KY gold and
sterling setting, the coin dates back to 400 AD. The woman empress featured is Eudoxia and was the wife of
Arcadius. She attained title
of emperor in 400 AD but died in 404 AD. Shown above her head is a
wreath that is held by hand, representing the hand of God. The hand
is on the edge underneath the bezel. The few female emperors during
the late 5th century AD had this hand and wreath above their
profile. A one-of-a-kind gift for a woman politician or any fancier
of rare ancient history. Overall diameter is 20 mm.
A very rare and
CHOICE coin!!!
