FOLLES COIN BRACELET
IN 14KY GOLD
7TH
CENTURY AD
Inspired
by ancient designs, this money bracelet is truly a show-stopper! The
heavy 14KY gold curb link chain bracelet features seven ancient Byzantine transitional bronze folles of Constans II, dating back to the 7th century
AD. From a period of great turmoil and monetary inflation in the
Byzantine Empire, these coins were crudely re-struck by the government on
coins that were cut into pieces. Each single folles was cut to make
four single folles coins. The shapes you see here were exactly as
they were in their time, not due to deterioration. The coins have
been carefully selected and placed for their unique detail, style and
patina. Each coin is mounted on a heavy ring of 14KY gold.
Many exhibit an 'M' on one side (symbol for ONE folles) and a picture of
the emperor Constans holding a cross. A remarkable collection of
ancient art showcased in this heavy gold masterpiece!!!
